About UsWith Beth Hiser on upright bass and Rachel Roberts on guitar, Babies in Black harmonize to every major pop hit between 1955-1965, from the Beatles to Lesley Gore to the Drifters. They play these songs to inspire original compositions, resembling the doo-wop and 60s pop era. The Babies in Black are currently working on material for their first album together.

Who We Are |
Rachel Roberts is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from the underground rock factory of Akron, OH. Roberts has a sultry, folk rock sound; a mix of Sade, Joni Mitchell, and Pat Benatar.
Roberts has four albums; two solo records, and two with her bands Rachel’s Secret Stache and Sexis Sixes. She has toured and played over 300 venues nationally, made a music video in downtown Chicago, and shared stages with Chrissie Hynde, The Black Keys, Greg Kihn, Rusted Root, and Joseph Arthur. Beth Hiser is a music professor at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, OH. Hiser has her doctorate in music theory and is accomplished on several instruments including the violin, piano, and upright bass. In addition to Babies in Black, Hiser plays with bluegrass band Front Porch. She has performed Afro-pop, country, bluegrass, rock and even punk throughout the country. Hiser loves to inspire new wandering musical minds during the year, and tour with her bands in the summer. |
Our History |
In 2014 Rachel and Beth began playing together as 50s-60s pop duo, Babies in Black. They conceptualized their band after listening to early Beatles albums together. Both loved the idea of bringing back the doo-wop duo, like a female Everly Brothers.
